Abstract

A novel series of 6-aryl substituted 3-(4-tert-butylbenzyl)[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-a]phthalazines(6a-g) have been synthesized and characterized by spectral analysis and evaluated for their in-vitro cytotoxicity against a panel of five human cancer cell lines by MTT method. Results showed that these compounds selectively induced cell viability towards human breast cancer lines over the other cancer cell lines tested and compound 6g exhibited good anticancer activities compared to 5-fluorouracil (standard used) against MCF-7 (Breast) cell lines with IC50 value  16.5 ± 0.4µM.
