Coronary heart disease, stroke, atherosclerosis and hyperlipidemia are the primary cause of death. There are mainly two types of hyperlipidemia one is the primary hyperlipidemia caused due single genetic defect, and secondary hypolipidemia is diabetes, myxoedema, nephritic syndrome, chronic alcoholism, with use of drugs like corticosteroids, oral contraceptives, Beta- blockerJustica adhatoda leaves, mimosa pudica leaves, Trigonella foenum-gracecum seeds are traditionally used as antihyperlipidemic drugs as per Ayurvedic literature.
