Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate antimicrobial, antiinflammatory and cytotoxic activities of essential oil extracted from Salvia officinalis using chloroform as the solvent by Soxhlet apparatus. Total phenols and flavonoids were estimated by Folin-Ciocalteu reagent and AlCl3 reagent methods. The antimicrobial activity was carried out by well diffusion method while the antiinflammatory activity was performed by albumin as well as BSA denaturation inhibition assay method. The cytotoxic activity was carried out on HeLa cell lines by MTT assay method.
